Mrs. McPuppet
I was Mrs. McPuppet and still am in many ways. Having taken a pause in my fine art practice to enjoy my children, I metamorphasized and began making puppets and writing songs inspired by my new life and the folk tales that we were reading. Gradually, I began to perform locally and then joined Young Audiences in Rochester and found my home in elementary schools. It was an artistic medium with a live audience to experiment with. It suited my nature to work in spurts of spontaneity. The third recording ,"Waltzing with Fireflies" won a Parent Choice Award and all four recordings can be found on Spotify and Amazon. I am happily reminded of those days when someone stops to tell me they grew up with Mrs. McPuppet and now their children are listening to the music. I loved the whole package, the variety of styles of puppetry I used, the melodies that floated up out of my days, and the thrill of an auditorium full of young children to sing with and entertain.
